HP Insight Capacity Advisor Consolidation software is a limited-time-use license for just the capacity planning capability of the HP Insight Dynamics - VSE suite for ProLiant and HP Virtual Server Environment suite for Integrity. It jumpstarts your consolidation projects by providing consolidation recommendations based on detailed data that eliminates guesswork and months of tedious capacity planning.

HP Insight Dynamics – VSE provides the advanced management and automated provisioning capabilities at the core of the Matrix Orchestration Environment for HP BladeSystem Matrix. It lets you collect detailed server utilization data across several key metrics for a period of up to 6 months after license activation. You can use the full power of capacity planning including its 'Smart Solver' technology to analyze and optimize server capacity and power in the new environment in order to plan a consolidation onto new HP BladeSystem or stand-alone HP Servers.

Q3. What actually gets installed?
A3. When you install the HP Insight Capacity Advisor Consolidation software, the installation process will take you through installing much of the "HP Insight Dyanmics - VSE suite" on to the central management station. However, only the "HP Capacity Advisor" (i.e. capacity planning) capabilities will be licensed and able to be used. The central management station software can be added to an existing CMS or 're-used' in setting up a new CMS for on-going management using HP Insight Dynamics - VSE to manage HP ProLiants, BladeSystems, or HP Integrity servers. The data on the managed server themselves can be collected agentlessly, or by installing an agent on the server.

  • HP Integrity Server customers should purchase the 100 pack license using product SKU # T8710AC
Q2. How is it licenced?
A2. For both HP ProLiant and HP Integrity servers: Purchase one license for every server you want to collect data on. The licence term is 6-months. In otherwords, it will cease collecting data after a six-month period. You can use another license to continue data collection for an additional six months if desired The licenses can be thus be extending indefinetley

  • For HP ProLiant Server licenses: The HP Insight Capacity Advisor Consolidation software includes one year of 24 x 7 HP Software Technical Support and Update Service. This service provides access to HP technical resources for assistance in resolving software implementation or operations problems. The service also provides access to software updates and reference manuals either in electronic form or on physical media as they are made available from HP. With this service, HP customers will benefit from expedited problem resolution as well as proactive notification and delivery of software updates.   • For HP Integrity Server licenses: The HP Insight Capacity Advisor Consolidation software does not include service and support. Service and support can be purchased separately for one year of 24 x 7 HP Software Technical Support and Update Service. The service also provides access to software updates and reference manuals either in electronic form or on physical media as they are made available from HP. A2. HP Insight Capacity Advisor Consolidation Software is considered to be "customer installable/configurable". Customers who wish to have HP Services install HP Insight Capacity Advisor Consolidation Software, can purchase the HP Services Custom Industry Standard Server Deployment Service. Customers who later purchase the full HP Insight Dynamics – VSE software , will be required to purchase the HP Insight Dynamics – VSE Installation and Start-up service for each HP SIM Central Management Server (CMS) where HP Insight Dynamics - VSE will be deployed. Installation and Start-up Services are offered by HP Services and Authorized Business Partners.
