Overview

HP introduces Integrated Lights-Out Select for first generation iLO management processors providing Lights-Out management upgrades for selected ProLiant server environments. iLO Select provides a cost-effective upgrade for Lights-Out functionality on ProLiant 300 and 500 Series servers that are managed using iLO Standard text based remote consoles. This is typically found in Linux environments.

iLO Select gives you the freedom of total remote control without compromise over your ProLiant servers anytime, anywhere.

iLO Select upgrades are now available by purchasing the HP ProLiant Essentials Integrated Lights-Out Select Pack. The iLO Select Pack provides a license key that activates the security, Power Regulator Reporting and enhanced virtual media capabilities for ProLiant servers with first generation iLO management processors.

What's new

Electronic Redemption Process

Starting in November 2007, a license entitlement certificate will be delivered in place of a license activation key. The license entitlement certificate will be delivered via physical shipment for existing product numbers (with the exception of tracking licenses) and via e-mail for the new electronic license product numbers. It will contain information needed to redeem license activation key(s) online or via fax. This new electronic redemption process will allow for easier license management and better service and support tracking. For more information, please visit http://www.hp.com/go/ICe-license.

Ideal environment

Ideal for...

ProLiant ML/DL server environments requiring the following
  • Secure remote control capabilities for ProLiant servers that are primarily administered and managed using text remote console tools such as SSH clients, serial over LAN or Telnet. (Typically Linux environments)
  • Virtual media to install or update software and firmware on ProLiant ML/DL servers from a remote location
  • Integration with LDAP authentication products such as Novel eDirectory and Microsoft Active Directory to provide effective and efficient centralized access security for remote control tools
  • Strong authentication using Smart Card technology is required to reduce the risk of compromised IT security on iLO based blade servers
