HP released a new Linux server management product, Insight Control Environment for Linux (ICE-Linux) v2.0, on 31-March-2008. This ICE-Linux v2.0 product replaces the current Insight Control Linux Edition (ICLE) product and the Control Tower (CT) products. Free upgrades to ICE-Linux v2.0 are available for ICLE and CT users with valid HP Support contracts which include software updates. This ICE-Linux v2.0 upgrade process will run through September 2008.
The new product ‘HP ICE-Linux v2.0’ can be accessed at URL http://www.hp.com/go/ice-linux. You can download an evaluation copy (“Free Trial”) or purchase from this URL also. ICE-Linux will replace the current ICLE product and will provide better functionality in numerous areas. The current ICLE product will continue to be supported by HP in accordance with standard policies.

Users of ICLE v1.6
Existing ICLE v1.6 users with a valid HP support contract are eligible to receive a free upgrade to ICE-Linux v2.0. ICLE v1.6 customers received one year of HP Support bundled with their purchase. These customers are requested to register their HP Support immediately, if they have not already done so. The support registration process is available at Customer Support Registration. HP will send existing ICLE v1.6 customers with registered HP Support an entitlement to their free upgrade within six-to-eight weeks of the 31-March-2008 release of ICE-Linux v2.0.

Customers of ICLE v1.5 and CT 1.0/1.1 with valid HP Support contracts (which include software updates) who are interested in free upgrades to ICE-Linux v2.0 must send an email request to HP.

- Requests need to include all of the following information:
- Contact info
- ICLE/CT license number(s)
- Proof of HP Support which includes software updates
Customers should allow six-to-eight weeks for processing of this request.
Upgrade Availability
This ICE-Linux upgrade program for ICLE and CT users will be available until end-September 2008. After September 2008, users will need to purchase ICE-Linux at http://www.hp.com/go/ice-linux.
