An integrated solution that automates the process of deploying and provisioning server software.

How to evaluate

  1. Find and download the latest Insight Rapid Deployment software documentation.

  2. Review the HP Insight Rapid Deployment software Planning Guide. This will help you understand any potential infrastructure issues.

  3. Read the HP Insight Rapid Deployment software Installation Guide. This will help you understand any potential installation issues.

  4. Read the HP Insight Rapid Deployment software Support Matrix. This will help you understand which operating systems and servers are supported.

  5. Decide which type of trial licensing you want to use. Refer to the licensing page for more details about obtaining licenses:
    • 10-node, 7-day evaluation license
    • 10-node, 30-day evaluation license

  6. Obtain the Insight Rapid Deployment software software:
    • HP Insight Rapid Deployment software Media Kit
    • Insight Control Management Software Media Kit
    • Download the ISO images from software download page and create the disc from the ISO image using your preferred DVD writing software

  7. Build the deployment server:
    • Be sure that the server meets the minimum requirements listed in the RDP - Windows Edition Installation Guide.
    • Install the operating system, with DHCP, WINS, and DNS enabled.
    • Cable the server to a small, isolated hub/switch.

  8. Insert the Insight Rapid Deployment software or Insight Control Management DVD into the deployment server. Install the software using the autorun utility.

  9. Select some PXE-enabled target servers.
    • Select ProLiant BL servers or ProLiant ML/DL G2 (or later) servers in their standard configuration, if possible, as these servers provide the simplest learning experience.
    • Optionally, run the System Erase utility on the selected target servers to simulate a "bare-metal" out-of-the-box experience.
    • Cable the target servers to the hub/switch previously referenced.
    • Power up the target servers. The PXE boot process will begin and the target servers will be discovered by the Deployment Server.

  10. Perform a few server deployment tasks. More information about the provided deployment jobs can be found in RDP User Guide.
