Windows 2008 Server Prompts For New Administrator Password After Sysprep Image Capture

Article: 20000033

Applies to: Release 3.80 or greater

After the Sysprep image is captured, the reference server will continue through an unattended installation using the unattend.xml file that was auto-generated by Altiris Deployment Server. By default, the Administrator account is disabled in Windows Server 2008 and the auto-generated unattend.xml file does not enable the Administrator account because credentials would have to be supplied in the file.

The Administrator account will be enabled and configured with a password when the Sysprep image is deployed to targets using the unattend answer file specified in the Distribute Disk Image task in the Deploy Windows 2008 Sysprep Image job. If changes need to be made to the unattend answer file, use the Microsoft tool Windows System Image Manager included in the Microsoft Windows AIK.
