Red Hat Linux Scripted Install Fails With "Unable to download kickstart file" Or "Choose a Language" At The Target

Article: 20000051

Applies to: Release 6.x

The installation process was unable to read the specified kickstart file.

Several possible causes are:

The path to the kickstart file is incorrect. The IP address is not valid or the fully-qualified FTP server hostname cannot be resolved by a DNS server. The kickstart folder or file name does not exist. These values are setup in the Run Script - Configure Boot Environment task.
The lib Virtual Directory on the FTP server is not accessible or the Local Path is not <InstallPath>\eXpress\Deployment Server. The FTP Publishing Service Startup Type should be Automatic.
A firewall is enabled on the FTP Server and is blocking access to the appropriate ports.
The switch port connected to the PXE NIC is running Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). This can cause a timeout before a response can be given.
