Troubleshooting

Q: When I select the Download Survey Information link, I get the following error message - "There is no Survey Information currently available". Why?
A: Check: 1) The Survey utility is installed and run on the remote server, 2) The Remote Insight driver is running on the server, 3) A copy of Survey is installed on the client.

Q: When I point my browser to the Remote Insight DNS name or IP address, the browser does not find it. Why?
A: Depending on how your DNS/DHCP server is configured, you may require to specify the fully qualified domain name or four octet IP address of the Remote Insight card

Q: Why does the Remote Insight Event Log date display "-not set-"?
A: The Remote Insight date is displayed as "-not set-" when the Remote Insight Clock has not synchronized with the server clock. Use Remote Insight's F8 Config or install the Insight agents and Remote Insight driver for that OS.

Q: Why is my Integrated Management Log always empty?
A: The server health driver copies the IM log to the Remote Insight board via the Remote Insight driver. Ensure both these drivers are installed on the server.

Q: When I click on the Insight Web Agents link, the connection times out. Why?
A: This will occur when Remote Insight cannot connect with the Insight Agents due to a bad address, or a network problem, or the Insight Agents are not running, or the server operating system is down.

Q: When I try to log in, I get a Java error and I do not get prompted for Account and Password. Why?
A: Ensure that Java support is enabled in the browser.

Q: When I try to login why do I get a message stating: "Unauthorized Location"?
A: The 'Enforced client IP address' for the user is set to exclude the IP address or DNS name of the client machine you are using. You must move to a client machine that has been allowed, or change the user settings.

Q: When I select the Remote Console link, I get the error message "Remote Console Port is disabled". Why?
A: This occurs if the supervisor has disabled the Remote Console port in Global Settings.

Q: The server's keyboard and mouse are connected to Remote Insight but why are they always disabled?
A: When the internal 16-pin cable is installed, the server's keyboard and mouse are routed to Remote Insight by the internal 16-pin cable - attach the server keyboard and mouse directly to the server's connectors and do not use Remote Insight's external keyboard/mouse cable.

Q: Following a reset of Remote Insight or upgrade to a newer firmware version, why does the remote console seems slower?
A: The remote console settings may have been reset to default. After remote console is connected, confirm in the Settings box the selected operating system matches the server's operating system and confirm the selected character set matches the server's character set.
