| Q2. |
What servers are supported with the ProLiant Easy Set-up CDs as of March 31, 2008? |
| A2. |
The ProLiant 110 G5 and the ProLiant 115 G5 are supported. |
|
| Q3. |
How can I get a copy of the ProLiant Easy Set-up CDs? Or can I make my own copy of it? |
| A3. |
The ProLiant Easy Set-up CD is delivered with the ProLiant ML115 and ML110 G5 servers. HP will replace defective delivery media for a period of (90 days) following the date of purchase of your server. Customers who have received defective media can either request a replacement or download the latest CD off of their server's web homepages.
We encourage customers to download and build their own CD as needed for additional copies and replacement. The ProLiant Easy Set-up CD is licensed on a per-company basis. It may be duplicated and used on ProLiant servers within each company that purchases a server or a subscription. As part of the duplication of CD images, the customer has the ability to host their own images of these CDs within their company. | Q4. |
My server did not ship with the ProLiant Easy Set-up CD, but shipped with the Support CD instead. What happened and what can I do about it? |
| A4. |
HP is depleting inventories of the previous Support CD, so it is possible that you could receive a copy of it rather than a ProLiant Easy Set-up CD. If you want the new Easy Set-up CD, two methods of receiving it are available to you:
- Call the Customer Order Center Phone numbers: (US 1-800-952-7689) or (Canada 1-800-567-1616)
- Download the ISO image as described above in the answer to Question 3

| General |
| Q1. |
Is the Easy Set-up CD compatible between generations and versions and is it backwards compatible with the previous Support CD? |
| A1. |
There is NO compatibility between generations and versions of the Easy Set-up CD or with the previous 100 series Support CD because the Easy Set-up CD is specific to each entry server. Examples are:
- You can NOT use the Easy Set-up CD for ML110 G5 on the ML115 G5
- The Easy Set-up CDs are NOT backwards compatible with the existing ProLiant 100 Series Support (deployment) CD
- It will not be forwards compatible, e.g. you can NOT use a G6 easy Set-up CD on G5 server and vice versa
|
| Q2. |
What Operating Systems do the ProLiant Easy Set-up CDs support? |
| A2. |
Support differs by manual and assisted installation; HP ProLiant Easy Set-up CD assisted installation support:
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Operating systems
- Microsoft Windows 2008 Server Operating systems
-
Various flavors of these two Microsoft Windows Operating Systems are supported among the ProLiant 100 series servers, so please refer to your server's QuickSpecs to see which are specifically supported on your server:

| Q3. |
How can I do manual installation of my Operating System without the ProLiant Easy Set-up CDs? |
| A3. |
ProLiant servers include an embedded configuration tool that facilitates configuring the server and array controller hardware. Hardware configuration options are available after the server boots: ORCA (F8 selection for Option ROM Configuration for Arrays Utility) provides options to configure your RAID controller.
After configuring your hardware, you're ready to proceed with the OS installation process from the vendor-supplied OS media. Insert the Easy Set-up CD after the OS installation to install the latest drivers via autorun. Be sure to have the array controller driver available for the appropriate OS before you perform its installation.

| Q4. |
How does the Easy Set-up CD compare to SmartStart? |
| A4. |
The HP ProLiant Easy Set-up CD offers a similar, but smaller, consistent set of deployment and update tools as SmartStart and is limited to ProLiant 100 series servers. Additionally, the GUI is similar between the two products.
However, SmartStart spans the entire ProLiant line except for the ProLiant 100 series and is backwards compatible across these enterprise class platforms. Furthermore, SmartStart supports these capabilities that the Easy Set-up CD does not:
- Cross platform diagnostics
- RDP scripted installation
- Version control
- Packaged support software
- Remote deployment w/ dependency check

| Q1. |
What is the ACU? |
| A1. |
The Array Configuration Utility software for Smart Array controllers and the StorageWorks RAID Array 4x00 family of products makes it easy to configure and expand your disk drive arrays remotely. It is a web-based tool that has a configuration wizard that allows you to configure your array controller, add additional disk drives to an existing configuration or reconfigure your existing disk drive array.
