Overview

The ProLiant Essentials Intelligent Networking Pack (INP) provides advanced redundancy and load balancing to HP ProLiant and BladeSystem servers so they achieve maximum reliability and performance. INP proactively adapts to network infrastructure problems by detecting and analyzing network bottlenecks or broken network linkages and then steering traffic to the optimum route based on network conditions. It is easy to use, GUI-based, and requires no additional or specialized hardware. INP also ships with Virus Throttle to reduce threats from malicious code before they spread to the entire network.

What's new

HP has updated the Intelligent Networking Pack with these new features available at our networking software and drivers website. In addition, we have added INP support on HP Integrity servers.

Performance
  • Router Path Failover allows a server to detect blocked and degraded paths to a router and to redirect data along an unblocked path to the specified router.

Management
  • Discovery protocols - provides information about the network and neighboring devices and can help detect mistakes in configurations

Ideal environment

Ideal for...

Enterprise customers
  • Preventing performance issues - ProLiant customers can use INP to identify and diagnose network problems that can lead to end-user dissatisfaction in many cases before the dissatisfaction occurs.
  • Optimum network connectivity for the server - with INP, ProLiant server can determine which teamed port is the optimal port to use as the team's primary port
  • Maximum network bandwidth - ProLiant customers can use INP to achieve load balance transmit traffic, load balance receive traffic and achieve switch redundancy.
  • Preventing the spread of viruses - ProLiant customers can use INP to constantly monitor network traffic for virus-like activity to slow and limit the rate of connections to "new" machines to slow down the spread of viruses while not affecting normal server usage.
SMB locations with an "enterprise-like" network infrastructure
  • INP provides a low-cost networking solution that delivers optimum load balancing and failover teaming for improved network performance and availability.
  • INP provides an extra layer of protection against virus attacks when that virus is not detected by normal security software.
Service Providers
  • Service providers can benefit from INP when server availability and performance are important to their customers. INP makes the server that their customers are connected to, dependable. Moreover, INP provides comparable performance and availability to more complicated network solutions using standard networking hardware at a fraction of the prices.
