Q1. What are the standard features of the HP 1×4 Console Switch?
A1.
  • Multi functional switch allows four USB or PS/2 computers to share one USB or PS2 console and three USB peripheral devices such as printers and scanners
  • USB peripheral devices and console can be switched independently from one computer to another using Hot Keys or front push buttons
  • Fully compliant with USB 2.0 specifications for high speed data transfer
  • Complete keyboard and mouse emulation for error free booting
Q2. What Models are available for the HP 1×4 Console Switch?
A2. There is only one model that can be used as either a table top or rack mount KVM. The model number is AF61A and it includes two 6 foot PS2 cables.
Q3. What Options are available for the HP Console Switch?

  • AF613A HP 6 foot, 2-Pack, USB with audio KVM Cable
  • AF612A HP 6 foot, 2-Pack, PS2 with audio KVM Cable
Q4. How much space does the HP 1×4 Console Switch take up in the rack?
A4. Standard rack mounting of the HP 1×4 Console Switch will take up 1U (1.75") of l rack space. However, the switch can also be mounted in the front or rear of the rack or in a 0U profile by mounting in the side rails of the rack.

Connectivity
Q1. How many servers can be managed and how are they managed?
A1. Up to 4 computers running different operating systems can be managed by HP 1×4 Console Switch. Switching between computers is accomplished by typing a command at the keyboard or pressing the appropriate button on the front of unit. The selected computer receives characters typed at the keyboard and displays its video output on the monitor. You can also use the mouse to interact with the graphical interface of the selected computer.

Q2. Can I use the HP 1×4 Console Switch with computers that only support PS2 mouse and keyboard?
A2. Yes, cables are available to support both PS2 and USB computers.

Q3. Is the HP 1×4 Console Switch compatible with other HP Server Console Switch or HP IP Console Switch?
A3. No, the HP 1×4 Console KVM Switch is a standalone product and will not interoperate with the HP Server Console Switch or HP IP Console Switch.

Q4. Can the HP 1×4 Console Switch be expanded to support more than 4 computers?
A4. No the HP 1×4 Console Switch only supports 4 attached computers. Customers who require expansion should look at the HP Server Console Switch.

Q1. What is USB peripheral sharing?
A1. USB Peripheral Sharing is the ability of the HP 1×4 Console KVM Switch to switch USB devices between the attached computers allowing devices such as DVD-ROM Burners, Scanners and Printers to be shared between the attached computers.

Q2. What AC voltage can the HP 1x4 Console Switch work with?
A2. No. The internal AC power supply is auto-sensing so it can operate at voltages from 100-240 VAC.
