The HP Serial Console Server's user database supports up to 64 user accounts, which include user names, passwords, or keys, plus specifications of access rights and levels to SCS ports and commands. User definitions can be changed at any time. You can choose to have user access authenticated locally at the SCS user database or at one or more Remote Access Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) servers. Data security can be enhanced using industry-standard SSH encryption.

How does the CAT5e cable connect to the servers? |

Interface adapters convert standard serial connections to RJ45. Users can create their own CAT5e cables in custom lengths eliminating rolls of extra cable in the back of the rack. The Interface adapter also maintains the keyboard and mouse connection to the server, eliminating server lock-ups when the connection is lost.

Does the HP Serial Console Server save port history? |

Each SCS port has a buffer that holds the most recent 64 KB of online and offline serial data. A separate history command mode enables you to navigate within the current history file of a port and conduct tailored searches.
You can also configure the SCS to write serial port data to a file on a Network File System (NFS) server, thus preventing data loss caused by the overflow of the history buffer.
