Overview

Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) provides a superior storage solution. With some storage requirements escalating and others becoming more complex, factors such as flexibility, performance, increased reliability, greater density, security, scalability and accessibility are more critical than ever. Today's organizations consist of different kinds of environments. Enterprise data centers must be online almost 24X7, fulfill requests from numerous users simultaneously, and allow for constant growth and expansion while in operation. Other customer environments require high capacity storage and high data availability for low I/O environments. HP's portfolio of SAS drives meets all these demands.

HP SAS drives are available in both 2.5-inch or Small Form Factor (SFF) and 3.5-inch models. and three RPM speeds: 7.2K, 10K, and 15K to meet the individual performance needs of every customer. Additionally, HP's portfolio consists of single port drives for traditional server implementations and dual port drives for external storage where redundancy and high availability are critical.

Available models include: 3.5-inch 7.2K - 750GB & 1TB, 2.5-inch 10K - 146GB, 72GB, 2.5-inch 15K - 72GB & 36GB, and 3.5-inch 15K - 450 GB, 300GB, 146GB, and 72GB.

What's new

HP's SAS dual port drives provide a redundant path to the disk drive for improved data availability and fault tolerance (in case of HBA, cable, or expander failure). Midline SAS drives provide moderately-priced, high capacity drives with economic reliability and performance.

Options:
  • DP SAS Enterprise 15K 3.5-inch capacities: 450GB, 300GB, 146GB, 72GB
  • DP SAS Enterprise 10K 2.5-inch capacities: 146GB, 72GB
  • DP SAS Enterprise 15K 2.5-inch capacities: 72GB, 36GB
  • SAS Midline 7.2K 3.5-inch capacities: 1 TB, 750GB

Ideal environment

Ideal for...

SAS Midline hard drives are ideal for servers or external storage for high-capacity, non mission-critical environments with less than 40% workloads requiring economical reliability (about twice that of Entry Drives) and redundant data paths to the drive, e.g. disk backup, archival, reference, and other highly available applications.

SAS Enterprise hard drives are ideal for servers and external storage running mission-critical, high I/O workloads applications requiring maximum reliability (about 3.5 times that of Entry Drives) and performance, e.g. high transaction applications such as email, ERP, and CRM.
